TOLDesign Prints & Cards

In February 2020, the world was hit with an unprecedented national lockdown due to the threat of an unknown virus. While it was a time of uncertainty for many, I was fortunate enough to receive furlough from my job, giving me the opportunity to focus on something I had long wanted to pursue—launching my own business. As someone who often struggled to concentrate on multiple things at once, this period of stillness became a perfect time to dedicate my energy to a project that was both a welcome distraction and a personal passion.

It was during this time that TOLDESIGN was born, and shortly after, I was honored to secure one of my biggest early clients, the Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Trust. One of the most memorable milestones for my business was fulfilling a massive order of over 400 custom-made appreciation cards, which were sent directly to frontline workers battling the pandemic. This project was particularly meaningful, not only because of the scale but because it allowed me to contribute to a cause bigger than myself during a challenging time.

Over the course of three years, I built and operated TOLDESIGN, wearing many hats along the way—designer, illustrator, printer, shop owner, market vendor, and logistics coordinator. During this time, I created and sold over 6,000 unique prints, cards, and stationery items. My role in TOLDESIGN enabled me to sharpen my skills in creative design for print, develop a deep understanding of business management, and foster lasting connections with clients. Each of these experiences helped me grow both professionally and personally, leaving a lasting impact on how I approach creative and business challenges today.
